Photo Hunt #5: High

This week's photo hunt theme is "high". Knowing the themes in advance is such a big help to me. I'm consciously and unconsciously looking for "subjects" (that is so pro sounding! hahaha!) that would be perfect for the themes.

The pictures here were taken at San Antonio Sea World (I have tons and tons of photos from Sea World!) on the first Sunday of March. At first, I was intending these photos for the theme "metal". But I think they are more of a perfect fit for this week's theme. :)

Nope, I didn't go on the ride and my perfect excuse would be....no one will look after my daughter. Hahaha!

I have another high here. It's chocolate heaven, I'm telling you! ;)

Photo Hunt #4: Metal

I normally make a draft of my photo hunt entries ahead of time or at least be sure they're ready first thing Saturday morning. But I'm running late again because, being Catholic, I took a two day hiatus from blogging and bloghopping in observance of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. :) Anyway, I hope to catch up with the other photo hunters. :)

This week's theme is "metal" and I just had to participate because metal is one of my favorite materials. No, not because I love gold and silver, well, ok, I do, but the main reason really is that my family is in the business of exporting sculptures...made of metal. ;) And when hubby, my daughter and I moved to the US almost a year ago, I made sure I brought a few art pieces that were made from our factory. Here are photos of two of them taken in December last year.



Displayed prominently in front of our fireplace are sculptures of a horse and an elephant, both made from scrap metal. And by scrap metal, I mean metal that was previously used as material for refrigeratora, washing machines, air ducts, cars, etc. ;)





I love this elephant sculpture because it's my own design. But I didn't weld it together! Hahaha! In feng shui, the elephant represents "descendant luck". And for that reason alone, I had to bring this elephant with me if only to be sure that my daughter will have plenty of luck. :D Hush, non-believers of feng shui! I'm simply trying to make sure all my bases are covered. ;)







Another popular figure which represent luck is the horse. This is one of our older designs, very intricate and labor intensive. We have since come up with horses which are a lot simpler and easier to do.





Here's a pic of the same horse at a different angle. I'm sure santa didn't mind taking an alternative ride last Christmas. :D

Photo Hunt #3: I Spy

This week's Photo Hunt theme is "I Spy". Quite challenging if you ask me! :) Here goes my entry...




I spy two popular "figures"...a teen-aged pop sensation and a bi-lingual explorer. ;) This is a no-brainer...unless one has been living under a rock the past couple of years. Hee hee! While you're at it, I spy a popular dog, too! :D

Oops! I take back the "living under a rock the past couple of years" bit. :) I don't know what I was thinking. Surely, not everyone has a child or knows anyone who is of the Disney Channel generation. Hee hee! So sorry! :)

Photo Hunt #2: Different

"Double Purpose Pen"

While my Mom was having a vacation with us last month, she gave me 2 rather unique pens from corporate give-away crazy Philippines. Hee hee! ;) One was purple and the other one was yellow (I don't mean the ink! :D ).



What's so different about this plastic "writing aid"? Pull that shiny strip on top and you will see...



...it's a calendar, too! 2008 on one side...



...and 2009 on the other. :D

I personally think it's cool, however silly it may look. Hahaha! Those of you who are still students, don't get any funny ideas! :P

Photo Hunt #1 - Party

This is my first Photo Hunt entry. I'm glad this week's photo hunt theme didn't really require one bit of hunting on my part. I didn't dare try come up with something creative and took the theme as it is. I had the perfect party photos already...those of Abby's first birthday party 3 and 1/2 years ago. :D

Abby's first birthday was really special as first birthdays should be (and all other birthdays should be, too!) It was a gathering of our closest friends and relatives. Hubby and I chose a circus-theme. We had a party host/magician dressed in a ringmaster costume, waiters dressed in clown costumes, tons of party games, a bubble show, a pinata pull and a balloon burst. Well, enough talking. Here are some PARTY pics...
