Red

Here's another tag from Meeya. This was meant for Valentine's Day, I think. Hee hee. Sorry, Mee! Anyway, here are the rules:

1. Post your photo wearing red, may it be a red top, bottom, the least would be red accessories if you hate wearing red… If you can’t find one, you still have an option…. Either post your Significant Other’s photo or your child’s photo, if you have one. Of course, they should be wearing red.

2. Let us know the reason why you were wearing red that particular day. Was it your birthday? Is red your fave color or was it the shirt that you first saw in your closet that day?

3. Tag 3 people close to your heart. By the way, they have to be in your blogroll. No cheating heart please.

Being the stagemom that I am, I would of course prefer to post photos of my Abby instead. :) These photos were taken on New Year's Day, thus, the red outfit. Red is an auspicious color after all. :) When I first laid eyes on this dress at Macy's, I thought right away that it's so perfect for New Year's. Hee hee.

I just had to add another photo for this tag. This was taken at the Picture Company in December 2004. Abby was only 4 months old when this photo was taken. Since 2003, my side of the family always has our picture taken at a studio around Christmas time. :) Look at that, I just got homesick on my own doing.

There. Another tag down. Just a few hundred more to go. :D Feel free to do the this tag if you like red. ;)

Magazine Covers

This is a fun tag from Nell. I had so much fun doing this that I was not content with just 1 cover. I ended up making 3. ;) It must be my inner cover model. Hahaha! My only regret is that I didn't do this soon enough. It used to be that the covers available were from real magazines. I suspect the site got into some sort of a run in with the magazines that they had to change the titles, i.e. from Fortune to Riches, Vogue to Vage, Sports Illustrated to Sports Celebrated, and so on. Nevertheless, I still went crazy with the covers. Hee hee!

If you're into visualization, this magazine cover is perfect. :) This will really trick your subconscious mind into thinking that you are super rich. :D

I've posted this pic of Abby before but I just had to use it again for this mag cover. Awwww, my daughter is so pretty. ;)

Ok, I do realize the penguin mascot occupied half of the mag cover. We have better family pictures but when I tried them on the different mag covers, the magazine titles end up covering our faces. So I had to settle with this one.

If you ever fantasized about gracing the cover of a magazine, this tag is definitely for you. :D

ps: Meeya tagged me for this meme as well. Hee hee. Thanks for reminding me, Mee! ;)

WS #4: Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch

Last Saturday, 15 March 2008, we spent the afternoon at the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, supposed to be the most visited safari park in Texas. This trip to San Antonio gave my family a wonderful chance to see so many beautiful animals at very close range, and from the comforts of our car at that. Opportunities to take photos seemed to present themselves one after another. It was hard not to stop every minute to take a picture of every goat, every dear...every single one of them! :)

I love the color of this group. They reminded me so much of, er, tiramisu. :)

Some of the animals went about their business in groups. While some, preferred to be left by their lonesome.

Others preferred to eat the grass instead of the feeds that visitors so excitedly offer them.

A few of them seem so used to being the center of attention.

And some were just too willing to have their close-up taken. :)

This giraffe definitely knows how to work the camera. She looks a little flirty here if you ask me. ;)

This safari trip was a first for us and Abby is obviously very thrilled. :)

Have a great week, everyone!

WS #3: Gearing Up for the World Cup

I love the fact that we live just a very short drive away from a really nice park. On the last Saturday of February, we took advantage of a fine sunny afternoon and spent a few hours in the park. The wind was a bit chilly but something we welcomed just the same. :D

Abby has the most fun on days such as this. She gets to run, play, run, play...and run and play some more. :)

We didn't forget to bring one of Abby's favorite balls. This was a gift to her by our half-Filipina, half-German friend Ninna, when we went to Germany in February 2006. It's a replica of the official 2006 World Cup ball.

Hubby and I wish for Abby to love sports. And I do have reason to believe that unlike me, she will grow up to be athletic.

Like every kid her age, Abby is a ball of energy. As much as possible, we provide her with
opportunities to release some of it. Hahaha! :D Going to the park is best because one, we can all benefit from the fresh air and two, it's F-R-E-E. ;)
In exchange for a smile like this, we won't mind bringing Abby to the park every chance we get. That's a fair deal, don't you think?
oOo
I have another WS entry at Cafe Munchkin. Do visit other Weekend Snapshot participants here. Better yet, why not join in the fun?! :)
Have a great week, y'all!

WS #2 - R & R at Brushy Creek Lake Park

Two weeks ago, we spent the afternoon at Brushy Creek Lake Park.

We brought our trusty mats, toys for Abby, books and magazines that were left unread, and of course, food!

Abby and I kicked off our shoes. She, to play on the sand...

...and I, to lay down under the shade of a tree.

At first, I had my legs crossed at the ankles...

...but out of habit, I couldn't resist crossing them at the knees like so. :D

Ahhhh, this is the life...and so thought my left foot. :D
And to prove that we brought food, I posted another WS entry here. :)
Have a great and richly blessed new week, y'all! :D

Photo Hunt #1 - Party

This is my first Photo Hunt entry. I'm glad this week's photo hunt theme didn't really require one bit of hunting on my part. I didn't dare try come up with something creative and took the theme as it is. I had the perfect party photos already...those of Abby's first birthday party 3 and 1/2 years ago. :D

Abby's first birthday was really special as first birthdays should be (and all other birthdays should be, too!) It was a gathering of our closest friends and relatives. Hubby and I chose a circus-theme. We had a party host/magician dressed in a ringmaster costume, waiters dressed in clown costumes, tons of party games, a bubble show, a pinata pull and a balloon burst. Well, enough talking. Here are some PARTY pics...

birthday song and candle blowing time
souvenir pic with the grand parents

souvenir pic with the "circus audience"...our kiddie guests
the pinata pull

kids getting ready for the balloon burst

mad scramble for small balloons marked with special prizes
Of course, a party is never complete without food. :) I posted the party chow at my other photo hunt entry. ;)
Note: All photos are by our good friend, Owee Salva.

WS#1: Madonna and Grandchild

The very first weekend after my Mom arrived in Austin for a vacation with us, we drove off to Dallas for some R & R. On 29 December, Saturday, we spent a few hours at the Dallas Arboretum. There's no better way to relax than to be one with nature. Plus, I kinda had a hidden agenda...I wanted to play with my new toy, and take pictures of flowers. Hee hee!

As luck would have it, there weren't too many flowers to take pictures of because it's, er, winter. My bad. You can't really blame me for not knowing these things because I was born and raised in the Philippines, a tropical country (Excuses, excuses!). All was not last though. In the absence of more gorgeous flora, I was able to focus more on my loved ones and some of my favorite pics, were those I took of my Mom and Abby. :D So, without further I ado, I present to you a series of photos of the two women in my life having a conversation in the park and which I am aptly calling: Madonna and Granchild. ;)

I have many more photos of Abby and her Mimi, which will surely find their way to this site soon.

Note: This is my first entry to Weekend Snapshot. You can check-out other entries here.

Welcome!

Hello there! I am Munchkin Mommy and this, to say it bluntly, is a public display of the memories we have mapped through the thousands of photos we've taken over the years. If a picture paints a thousand words, and I believe it does, then the photos will more than speak for themselves. But don't worry, there will be commentaries just the same. Hee hee! ;)

I hope you enjoy viewing the photos that will be making their way here as much as we enjoyed taking and being in them.

Cheese! Oops, I meant "cheers"! :D
oOo

For my very first entry, let me share the photos of 2 of my most favorite and most loved people on the face of the known universe...hubby and my little girl, Abby. These photos were taken at the Dallas Arboretum on 29 December 2007. I call these my Paparazzi Series. ;)
